An Update About Scions, Indomitable, and Delivery

Hi Shannara Fans,
It's been a while since I've updated. Today is a good opportunity.
First, we will not hit our August shipping for the books. Yes, sadly, we are one of those Kickstarters that will be late. This happened for a number of reasons. The first one is I didn't get Marc Simonetti working on the art fast enough. That's on me. He is finished with the art for Scions and Indomitable. So at least all of that is good.
Nate Taylor has turned in the coin designs. So that's very good too. It means coin production will start this month and hopefully they will arrive to me by late next month. The same with the prints.
So it looks like we aren't that far behind, right?
Well, we are. We really, really are. Because of the books. The publishing industry has been having systemic delays in printing, binding, and delivering. This is due to several different issues bottle-necking the whole process. What would normally take 8-10 weeks for warehouse delivery of books after files are uploaded is now taking three times that time. This has affected all of our books, Sub Press books, etc. Today, I went into greater depth about all of this over on Grim Oak Press's website HERE. Definitely read it if you are wishing to know more.
What does all of this mean? It means we are looking at a Quarter 1 2022 delivery for the books and merchandise. We aren't happy about this, obviously, but little can be done for it at this point. Terry and I are thinking of something extra we can give you all for your patience. We'll know more about that soon. We won't announce The Druid of Shannara Kickstarter until all of your items have been delivered. And to get a head start on that project, I'm asking Marc to begin artwork for that book now. We will try to speed all of this up so you guys aren't waiting so long for that next book.
The good news? Those of you who ordered the Russ Charpentier maps will be receiving them much faster. Russ is already hard at work getting the giclees printed. And I'm betting he will be able to get those mailed out to everyone by the end of September. More news on that as we get closer to it.
Terry also has some news to share that factors into all of this too. But I have to wait for him to share it on his own terms. More on that soon.

PS: Here is a new painting that Marc Simonetti has just turned in. This is the first one within Indomitable but it was the last Marc turned in. I love the colors.

2 Simonetti Interiors & A New Kickstarter

Hi Shannara Backers,
Time if flying. June is here and with it some new art! Marc Simonetti is hard at work on the interiors for The Scions of Shannara. He's almost done. I decided to share two of those pieces so you can see it is all happening. Terry is thrilled by the six interiors he's seen so far. I am too.
Also, there is a new Kickstarter that just launched for an anthology titled THE KING MUST FALL. Terry isn't contributing to it but I was invited. My contribution became a 20,000-word novella -- so a huge piece that I think Terry's fans will love since it is epic fantasy. The anthology has some other great writers contributing to it too.
Marc Simonetti Continues His Work

Hi Shannara Backers,
Just a short update to share that Marc Simonetti continues his work on the interiors for special editions of The Scions of Shannara. Today I am sharing a bit about the process.
First, Marc finds time. That's usually the hardest part. He is always busy working on book or movie production art. Once he can work, here is how it goes:
I send Marc scene ideas that I think will work. In this case, 10 of them.
Marc reads the scene to get a feel for it
He then does a quick digital sketch to lays out the art and color palette
I receive the sketch and forward to Terry. We discuss it. Usually we love it and give Marc the go ahead
Marc paints the scene
Terry and I give final approval.
The scene below is obviously Cogline and Walker. Undoubtedly, they are discussing the Druid History volume and what's needed to save the Four Lands from the Shadowen. Cogline is adamant; Walker is defensive. I really can't wait to see this one finished because it may go on my wall.
Anyway, we are working through the various pieces of artwork and merchandise needed.

First, 54 Kickstarter backers haven't completed their BackerKit survey. The survey is necessary to complete your Kickstarter order. Because that's where people pay their shipping, give us their mailing address, and it's where any Add-Ons can be done. We decided to give people two months to complete their add-on purchases and to pay for shipping in BackerKit. And also during those two months, people who missed out on the Kickstarter could still pre-order their Signed & Numbered editions of Scions and Indomitable.
This is just a reminder that the BackerKit will close on May 1st. That means you only have this week to pre-order your copies/merchandise or finish up your BackerKit survey.
