No New Update
almost 2 years ago – Mon, May 23, 2022 at 02:30:41 AM

Hi All,

I keep getting people requesting an update on this Kickstarter. Unfortunately, it's the same as the last update. Waiting on the printer and the bindery. When I get a date for completion from them, I will share it the moment I know it.

Until then, we are in the same spot as before. Though next week I will be shipping out some add-ons that people purchased that weren't a part of pledges. It's only a handful of people. More on that once done.

A Small Update
about 2 years ago – Wed, Apr 20, 2022 at 05:19:59 AM

Hi All,

Someone requested an update. So I thought I'd do that, though the update is fairly similar to the last one.

The printer received in the paper they need to complete the printing part of the process. They printed off the proofs and mailed them to me, a part of the process I really enjoy as it is like getting a physical book -- though not bound. Unfortunately, the most of the black and white pieces for the regular hardcover of The Scions of Shannara printed far too dark. I asked my book designer to lighten up Marc's art -- which worked well -- and she uploaded those files last week.

I should receive new proof pages this week sometime, I would imagine. I'll look at the black and white interior pieces of art again and hopefully they match up with my vision.

Then the book blocks will be printed and sent to the bindery. I won't have a date for binding the books until the bindery receives the book blocks. Needless to say, when I get that date, I'll be sharing it with all of you.

The Woe of the Paper Mill
about 2 years ago – Sat, Mar 19, 2022 at 02:12:22 PM

Hi Shannara Backers,

A quick update since someone requested one. All of my work is done on the Kickstarter. The files went to the printer over a month ago. Right when they were going to begin printing all pieces of the project, they realized they lacked the amount of high-quality paper needed.

I've been told that more paper will arrive sometime in the first two weeks of April. Then the printer will get the pieces of the books printed, and then they will ship those pieces to the bindery where they will be assembled into the books we know and love.

No word when all of this will happen. But I'm betting the printer will do their thing by the end of April and ship to the bindery. Then the bindery will throw the project into their queue. And we will wait for them to work their magic.

Then.... books to ship to me. Yay!

Waiting on the Queue
about 2 years ago – Sat, Feb 12, 2022 at 01:10:43 PM

Hi Shannara Backers,

Just a short update since two people asked for one.

In short, everything is the same as before. Waiting on being put into the printing queue for our books. The good news? The printer told me two days ago that the queues are about 55-60 days out for printing. That's pretty good considering last year they were seven to eight MONTHS.

Let's hope that remains true. Then the book blocks and interior artwork would go to the bindery, which will likely take about the same amount of time to get into their queue. So we are are still several months out before we will receive finished copies, but that is far better than how things were last year.

More news when I know it.

Happy New Year!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Jan 04, 2022 at 12:15:20 AM

Hi Shannara Backers,

First, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Terry has a new blog on his website. You can read it HERE.

Just a quick update. Files are completely finished. We are going with a new printer who is also producing Grim Oak Press's Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams. We like what we've seen from them so far -- they do a lot of work for Easton Press, I guess -- and so far it looks like they will be faster than our previous printer. Fingers crossed on that front while we await a printing date. When I know, you'll know.

I took a new photo of three colossal cards from the Kickstarter. I sent this to Patrick Rothfuss and his minions, as they wanted to see what cool stuff we are up to. Deck of cards in the photo for size comparison, and there is some shine on the cards from an overhead light. Since I took the photo, I thought, "Hey, I might as well share it in an update."

Many blessings from us to you in the New Year!

Your WebDruid,
